What is Functional Fitness and Movement?

 

Functional fitness, also known as functional training or functional movement, is a type of exercise that improves your body's ability to perform everyday tasks. It's designed to increase your strength, balance, mobility, and power, and to improve your overall health.

What is the Autoimmune Alternatives - Wellness support group about?

 

This group was created to have an online support group that would have the same feel as being in person - personable, people feeling at home, and safe to interact, get to know each other, support and encourage one another; and participate in the group activities that support your health and well-being from a holistic, mind-body connection approach.

​

It is a group based on holistic health, somatic practices, and mind-body connection, the focus will be on alternative and complementary therapies, healthcare, functional fitness, mindfulness (mindset) practices, somatic therapies, food as medicine, holistic nutrition, and what we can or are doing to improve the overall quality of life and well-being.

​

This group is exclusively for individuals who are utilizing, or would like to increase their utilization, of holistic health and modalities for diagnosed autoimmune disorders ('dis - order'). Examples of autoimmune challenges would be, fibromyalgia, arthritis, psoriasis, and inflammation in the body. We aim to ensure that our content and conversations are directly relevant and beneficial to your mental, emotional, and physical healing, health, and wellness journey.​​​​​

The Functional Exercise Class is a gentle, slow approach to improve your balance, flexibility, and strength, and release stress and tension in the body. This class will incorporate the mind-body connection, functional and somatic movement, and floor and chair exercises.

 

Your Facilitator, Josephine, is a practitioner of Natural Health Consulting, and Trauma-Informed Coaching, educated in Fitness & Nutrition. She has 20+ years of experience in the health, wellness, and self-development industry.
